Pictures have always been part of any bonding moments you have with friends, and most especially with your family. In the past, homes were riddled with many picture frames that show family moments precious to the family. Rooms of teenagers and sometimes adults are also filled with pictures not only from their time with the family, but also with friends. The longevity of the culture shows.

In today’s time however, picture frames are replaced by frames created digitally from applications installed in the devices which basically replaced cameras as the picture taking device of choice. As a result, instead of walls, shelves, and drawers, photos taken are now being stored inthe cloud through cloud backup.

Another problem is the way it is being kept because unless you do back them up in other forms, the photos that you have taken will eventually become disorganized and it might be lost in the cloud sooner than you think.

You may say that there are a lot of options available in the internet.However, not all of them are very keen in automatically backing them up for the long term. In fact, even the Apple cloud backup service that you put so much high regard can only hold images for a relatively short amount of time, which is usually a month, which also is kind of long if you do not take more pictures along the way because if you do, you will eventually forget about those that came before your recently taken photos.

Apple however, like always, found a solution to your problem.

Later this year, Apple is planning on releasing an application called Photos, which will be featured in their iOS 8 and in Macbooks next year. Apple promises that this application will be your one answer to the many problems that you have with your pictures especially when it comes to backing them up and organizing them in the cloud.

Admittedly, there are a lot of other options, better options in the internet as far as cloud backup is concerned especially when you talk about the amount of storage that it has available. For starters, Photos will allow you up to 2 GB of free picture storage. However, beyond that would mean added cost, and although 2 GB is already a fairly huge amount of storage space, it will not be enough for the foreseeable future.

Again, as mentioned there are better options when size is a concern such as Microsoft’s 10 GB of free storage, Google’s 15 GB, and most definitely Flickr’s 1 TB. Although, especially the latter, does support iOS, there is not guarantee that it has all the features that you would like to have with your Apple device.

There are times when paying an extra amount is worth especially if the application has all the features that would definitely go well with the device that you currently have.

Sometimes it is a matter of storage space, but most of the times, it is a matter of compatibility and when it comes to Apple devices, no picture application is better than Photos. It was developed by Apple for Apple users.
